Our Story
and accomplishments
We are a volunteer organization with its main base mainly located in the "Sendai Multicultural Center". The "Sendai Multicultural Center" is run by SenTIA (Sendai Tourism, Convention and International Association) which offers a wide range of services for foreigners and provides a space for our acivities as well.
September 1991: Sendai International Center opened.
OASIS started activities as “Sendai I.V. Network Consultation Support Group”
April 2007: With the dissolution of the “Sendai I.V. Network,” the organization was renamed to “Consultation Support Group OASIS,” a volunteer group to support foreign residents.
August 2010: An article introducing our activities was published in the August issue of “Shisei Dayori” (Sendai City News Letter).
May 2011: Commendation from the “Lively Aoba Ward Promotion Council” of Aoba Ward
September 2011: Received a letter of appreciation from the Sendai International Association for our contribution to international exchange over many years in Sendai City.
April 2014: Name changed to “ボランティアグループ 外国人支援の会OASIS” (Open Assistance & Support In Sendai)
March 2016: Received prefectual "Award for Achievement in Creating a Livable Miyagi"
May 2017: Received the "Spring Good Conduct Award" by the "General Good Conduct Association of Japan"
March 2022: Publication of our 30 year progress report in light of our 30th anniversary
February 2025: Relocation from the Sendai International Center to an office building nearby the municipal office
